The Minster Civic Association held its monthly meeting at The Wooden Shoe on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 6 p.m. After a 30 minute social time, we began our three presentations.
First, the Minster Area Rescue Squad presented their “Hometown Heart Hero Award” to several employees of Globus Printing for helping to save a life at Globus Printing.
Next, we heard from Kurt Baumer regarding his fund-raising efforts tied to his upcoming Peletonia Bike Race in Columbus, Oh. Kurt is matching all donations he receives toward the bike race, of which 100% go to the James Cancer Center, with his own personal donation to a number of local individuals who are fighting battles with cancer and other diseases.
Finally, James Wolf of Ernst Sports presented an overview of their operations. They have production facilities in Minster, Dayton and Cincinnati and provide service to customers over a large part of the United States. They specialize in short notice production of event and sportswear.
Following the introductions the board opened our general meeting and discussed ongoing activities. An email from our city manager was read updating the membership on ongoing village activities.
We then heard reports from Brenda Boeke, Minster School superintendent regarding the beginning of the High School renovation.
Members were advised to consider coming to the Food Truck Rally on 4th Street on Friday, June 2.
