As the temperature continues to stay in the 80’s and 90’s, the Village of Minster electric customers are being asked to conserve power during peak usage times.
While the electric grid is working properly and no problems are anticipated, electric customers who are able to reduce their energy usage during peak times can help reduce the cost to the village and ultimately their own electrical costs.
Village officials are requesting that customers voluntarily lower electric usage during the peak hours of 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday. It is during these hours that the village sees its highest electrical usage. Being able to reduce the amount of electricity that is used by the village can help the village save on transmission and capacity charges next year, as these charges are based upon the previous year’s peak usage and events.
Customers can take simple conservation steps such as: shutting off lights when not needed; unplugging small appliances; closing curtains, drapes, and blinds; doing laundry or using a dishwasher other than during the 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. time frame; and turning off televisions, computers, radios and other electronic devices when not being used.
